From 25.05 to 20.07.2024 in the rooms of the Civic Museums of Palazzo d’Avalos in Vasto the exhibition entitled “Sergio Fermariello. From one sea to another” curated by Lorenzo Canova, organized by the Sangallo Arte Moderna gallery. Over twenty selected works will be displayed in the exhibition, works on paper, canvas and steel. Works that refer to an allusive journey between lands and waters, a real and conceptual itinerary between physical and mental spaces, between places of nature and culture: the title “From a sea to another” represents the central nucleus of Sergio’s exhibition Fermariello, the symbolic form of a geographical, cultural and metaphorical journey.
The two seas evoked in the title could in fact be that of the Gulf of Naples, which is overlooked by the Villa Belvedere of Fermariello’s studio, and the Adriatic, which can be admired from the museum where the exhibition is held. They are then the seas of history and memory, from the Phoenicians to Magna Graecia, from Rome to the Aragonese up to our present, seas of travel, trade, but also of clashes, wars, crossings and shipwrecks. The inauguration will be held on Saturday at 5.30 pm at Palazzo d’Avalos in Vasto and then continue with a visit to the exhibition set up in the rooms of the Palace. The artist will be present. Refreshments will be offered by Fontefico.
