Pino Pinelli was born in Catania in 1938. It was precisely in the Seventies that he established himself as one of the main protagonists of “Analytical Painting” thanks to the materiality of his painting and the monochromaticity of his works. The shapes and materials have their own identity that can be defined as almost anaiconic. The technique he uses is a result of multiple materials covered by paint which have a visual and tactile conformation similar to that of velvet.
He holds over one hundred personal exhibitions in Italian and international museums and cultural institutions; we will mention just a few: Kunstverein Villa Franck of Ludwigsburg, Musée d’Art of Langre, Forum Kunst of Rottweil, Civica Galleria d’Arte of Gallarate, Kunstverein Schoss Lamberg of Steyr, La Rocca Paolina Exhibition Center of Perugia, Italian Cultural Institute of London and Prague, Cascina Roma San Donato Milanese, Villa La Versiliana in Pietrasanta, Aeolian Archaeological Museum “Bernabò Brea” in Lipari, Palazzo del Duca, Senigallia…
Participates twice in the Venice Biennale, first in 1986 and then 1997) and in the Rome Quadrennial in 1986 and 2006). The artist’s works are in the collections of numerous Italian and international museums such as the Galleria Civica in Modena, the Galleria Civica in Turin, the Musée d’Art Modern in Paris, the Galleria Nazionale in Rome, the Kunstverein in Hannover, Haus am Waldsee in Berlin, the Kunstverein in Frankfurt and numerous.
