Marino Marini was born in Pistoia in 1901. In 1917 he studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence following the painting classes by Galileo Chini and the sculpture classes by Domenico Trentacoste. The first years of his activity are dedicated to painting, sculpture and print making. In 1926 he lives in Florence, the year after he meets the artist Arturo Martini that two years after will invite him to teach in I.S.I.A. in the Villa Reale, Monza. In 1928 he participates at the exhibition in Milan of the “Novecento” artistic group.

He exhibits with the “Novecento” group in Milan (1929), Niece (1929), Helsinki (1930) and  Stockholm (1931). His first personal exhibition is in 1932 in Milan, later in 1935 he wins the first prize for the sculpture section at the Quadriennale di Roma. In these years he focus his production on the horse and on the Pomona. In 1943 due to the World War he moves to Switzerland. He exhibit in Basel, Zurich and Bern. After the World War he comes back to Milan working again in the studio and teaching in the Accademia di Brera.

In 1948 he has a personal exhibition in the Venice Biennale. From the personal exhibition in New York in 1950 his fame wil grow more and more in all the world. In 1973 the Galleria Civica di Arte Moderna in Milan opens the Museo Marino Marini its building. In 1976 the Neue Pinakothek dedicates Marini a personal permanent room. In Florence there is “Museo Marino Marini”. The artists died in Viareggio in 1980.
