in art and already in 1989 he had his first solo exhibition at the Lucio Amelio Gallery in Naples, an important international gallery owner with whom he would begin an important working collaboration and where he exhibited again in 1991 and 1992. A collaboration that led him to win the “Saatchi & Saatchi International Award for Young Artists” in 1989, an award held at the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan.
He then exhibited in Italy and abroad such as at the Galerie Yvon Lambert in Paris in 1992. He then participated in primary international exhibitions of modern art such as the Metropolis exhibition at the International Kunstausstellung in Berlin in 1991 and the Les pictographes exhibition at the Musée de l’Abbaye Sainte-Croix of Les Sables-d’Olonne. In 1992, at just 32 years old, Fermariello was invited to the XLV International Biennial Art Exhibition in Venice, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, with a personal room.
Fermariello turns the figure of the warrior, which he transforms into a sign, into a real language that multiplies and expands virally on the surfaces of his works, be they paper, canvas or steel. Today his works are present in leading Italian and international museums including the MADRE in Naples and the Terrae Motus Collection in the Royal Palace of Caserta. Sergio Fermariello lives and works in Naples.
